Marianne Shillingford

Garden design – Born into a family of successful commercial rose growers and horticulturalists, Marianne has a natural affinity with landscape design.  Also a keen gardener and allotment holder, garden design has played an increasingly important part of Marianne's work.  Recent commissions include a series of 10 unique small gardens exhibited at Althorpe House for the Extracare Charitable Trust and redeveloping of the gardens at the beautiful listed Manor Farm House in North Nottinghamshire. 

Planted Sculptures - Marianne designed and produced a unique living sculpture that was part of the winning entry for Nottingham in Bloom. The sculpture featured 9,000 living plants, a complex LED lighting system and integral irrigation.

Floral Tapestry – Marianne was commissioned by Loire Valley Wines to design and oversee the installation of a living floral tapestry that would cover Trafalgar Square.  It was grown at Kernock Park Plants in Cornwall and included over 155,000 plants.  The tapestry was installed overnight and went on display to the public for one glorious summer day in August.  It was the first time in 300 years that bees and butterflies visited Nelson and the square was dominated by the smell of flowers rather than exhaust fumes.
